Millenials Abandon their Fur Babies

A recent report in UK newspapers has found that Millenials who wanted to look good on social media platforms have been abandoning their fur babies when the going gets tough or they decide they need a new start in life.

Millenials Abandon their Fur Babies:

Millennials have been choosing to take on dogs so as to keep up with celebrity fashion, and according to research by the insurance company Petplan these same millenials had originally chosen their fur babies by basing their choice of breed, dependent upon which breeds gained the most “likes” on social media. Many of these chosen breeds happen to be “brachycephalic or flat faced” such as French Bulldogs or English Bulldogs, many of which often have breathing problems and eye ulcer problems.

I have written several times in this blog about the possible health problems associated with these dogs and most owners I have had contact with have simply faced up to the necessary problems of dealing with such things.
Yet it would seem that some of the millennials of this world are lightweights when it comes to being responsible for others. I know not all millenials are irresponsible, my own daughter who is one, has a fur baby (a Chihuahau) but she and her partner have both been very caring and responsible, even if it does mean that I occasionally dog sit.

Whilst I appreciate that possibly many millenials are living up to their responsibilities it would seem almost irresponsible of the rest of us as users of social media platforms that we give these people “likes”. Maybe we should be handing out a few other emojis.
